I am very grateful for accientally stumbling upon this charming little restaurant! Caffe Europa is located within the Laurel Mall in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. This Italian treat features pizza and sandwiches, in addition to gourmet coffees, canolis, tiramisu, gelato, pasta dishes, and so on. Who knew you could get such delicacies inside a shopping mall?
We opted to try some sandwiches right away. The meatball parmigiana was fantastic, as was the sausage, pepper, and onion sandwich. Both tasted fresh and very flavorful. The meatball sandwich had just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The sausage sandwich was fully loaded with peppers and onions; totally recommend both.

I was surprised by how good the pizza was at Caffe Europa, being hidden within a mall. I rarely get plain slices, but the Sicilian pizza grabbed my attention as my eyes browsed over the casing. It was the perfect size with the right amount of sauce and cheese, so I ordered it.
I doused my Sicilian slice with crushed red pepper after it came out of the brick oven, and sunk my teeth into this tasty treat. It was the best slice of plain Sicilian pizza I have ever tasted! The sauce and cheese were perfect, just as I suspected. The dough was light and slightly crispy, and didn’t leave me feeling stuffed and bloated at all. The slice was satisfying and pleasing.
We couldn’t help but take several glimpses at the dessert case sitting directly across from us as we ate our pizzas. There was no way we could leave without taking some delicacies home with us. Needless to say, Caffe Europa‘s extra large chocolate chunk cookies and canolis were absolutely fabulous! (Sorry, they were devoured before any photos could be taken.)
That really looks good. Not just your typical Italian fare. I like the hot pepper flakes on that slice. I have to get there…………..pronto!
